A wedding gift from a sibling (guest photos, not more stuff)

You are a sibling.

Brother or sister of the bride, or of the groom. Not the best man. Not a bridesmaid. Not a parent. You still need a wedding gift, and it cannot be another thing that lives in a cupboard.

You already did the family jobs. The toast if there was one. The lift. The table that needed a grown-up. The leftover job is a present from you: something that feels like you were in the room, and not more stuff.

They will have a photographer. They will have the posed hour. What they will not have is the night as their people saw it. You, before they walked in. The cousin who stayed too late. The dance that started after the hired camera went home.

A wedding gift from a sibling can be those guest photos. Not more stuff.

Polajoy is that gift. A guest camera on the phones already in pockets. You can set the wedding up yourself, free, or you can apply so they host. Guests join with an event code and an account, so after the wedding the whole set can be sent. iPhone and Android.

Each guest shoots on a 30-shot roll. Ordinary guests hard-stop at 0. No second roll. A gifted or nominated photographer, the friend with the good eye, can start another free 30-shot roll. Ordinary guests do not.

After each shot, ten seconds to Accept or Void. Timeout or a screenshot voids it. A void does not spend a frame. A short handwritten note is optional, up to 34 characters. Initials always go on the frame. Then it seals until the reveal they chose. Not even they see it first.

When the reveal arrives, the shop is there if they want paper. Nothing auto-ships. Free downloads carry a small wordmark. £2.99 takes it off. Prints never have it.

There is already a note for the person who wants to gift the wedding camera so they host, mothers, maids of honour, best men, the application as the present. This one is narrower: you are a sibling, brother or sister, looking for a gift that is not more cupboard stuff. If you are the best man, stag done, speech written, that is a different note: a wedding gift from the best man. If you are a groomsman rather than the best man, that is a different note: a wedding gift from the groomsmen. If you are a bridesmaid rather than the maid of honour, that is a different note: a wedding gift from a bridesmaid. If you are the maid of honour, hen done, toast written, that is a different note: a wedding gift from the maid of honour. There is a note that frames the present as a gift of photos, not another thing. There is one for the unique wedding gift of guest photos, not more stuff. If you are the parent buying for your child, that is a different note: a wedding gift from the parents.

If the morning after used to mean mixed guest phone photos in a chat, there is a note on wedding guest photos, without the WhatsApp pile.

Setup is free. Pay only if they want prints afterwards. Retroprints, a 12×12" layflat photo book, a wall frame with 16 or 25 apertures, thank-you cards. The complete guide walks through looks, table cards, and the reveal. These notes are written by Richard Lovatt, with Kitty. The rest live with the other articles.

A gift of guest photos is not the photographer of the day. Keep them. Names we have written up live on the directory, including London, Bristol, Manchester, and Edinburgh.

We host a handful of weddings. Cash, or store credit and free products. Apply on the host page. We read every one.
