You search unplugged wedding ideas because you do not want a wall of phones on the aisle.
The music starts. Screens go up. You miss faces. You miss your own vows. The person you hired cannot shoot through a row of iPads.
Then the morning after is a chase. Please send what you took. Hundreds of mixed guest phone photos in a chat. WhatsApp. iCloud. Every look, half of them blurred. A night you now have to sort.
Those pictures are still wedding photos. The pain is the pile. The useful ideas are the ones that keep the aisle quiet, and still have a place for the pictures after.
The ideas people save, and the ones that get photos
Most lists are a sign, a basket at the door, an usher with a smile. Fine as extras. They help the ask. They do not collect a set.
A pretty board is not a plan. If you want that board to work, there is a note on an unplugged wedding sign that actually works. The steps in order, window then invite then door, live in a note on how to have an unplugged wedding.
The ideas below are the ones that still get you photos. Not a mood. A window, a photographer, and a guest camera after the vows.
Idea: phones down only while you speak
Unplugged is usually ceremony-only. Processional through recessional. Phones welcome when the drinks start.
Say that window. If you leave it vague, guests keep phones in bags through dinner, or they never put them down because the ask sounded like a feeling.
If the part you mean is only the aisle, there is a shorter note on phone-free ceremony photos.
Idea: keep the hired photographer for the vows
Unplugged is not a reason to send them home. They know the light, the order of service, the portraits you actually want. Guests putting phones away is how they get a clear aisle and a first kiss without a screen in it.
The guest camera is for after. Not instead. Names we have written up live on the directory, including London, Bristol, and Manchester.
Idea: a guest camera after, not a chat the next morning
The service ends. Phones come back. Guests will shoot anyway. The drinks. The table that will not sit down. The dance that starts before anyone meant it to.
If the only idea is "send us everything later", you get the chat. People who meant to send them and people who forgot.
Phones-down for the vows should not become phones-nowhere. Give them a place to shoot once the recessional is over. That half has a note on unplugged wedding photos after the vows. If you want the guest camera named, film already on the phone in a pocket, there is a note on an unplugged wedding guest camera.
A sealed guest camera, after not during
You do not need guests filming the vows. You need a place for the pictures once phones are allowed again.
Polajoy is that place. Sealed film, on the phones already in pockets.
You set the wedding up. Free. One event code. A card on the table, or a line in the invite. Guests open the app, type the code, and join with an account. After the wedding, everyone who attended can be sent the photos. iPhone and Android.
Each person shoots on a 30-shot roll. Ordinary guests hard-stop at 0. No second roll. If you gift a photographer, the friend with the good eye, they can start another free 30-shot roll. Ordinary guests do not.
After each shot, ten seconds to Accept or Void. Timeout or a screenshot voids it. A void does not spend a frame. A short handwritten note is optional, up to 34 characters. Initials always go on the frame. Then it seals on Send, and nobody sees it until the reveal you chose. Not even you.
One reveal. End of the night, the next morning, a week later, or a time you pick. Then the shop is there if you want paper. Nothing auto-ships. Free downloads carry a small wordmark. £2.99 takes it off. Prints never have it.
You do not collect a chat. You do not sort hundreds of mixed guest phone photos the morning after. The film is already on the phone, and it waits.
Setup is free. Pay only if you want prints afterwards. The complete guide walks through looks, table cards, and the reveal. These notes are written by Richard Lovatt, with Kitty. The rest live with the other articles.
